PRESS RELEASE - PREVIEW
SUPERSIDE FIM Sidecar World Championship
Round 5 - Eurospeedway, Lausitzring in Germany, 7th, 8th, 9th June.
This
will be the second time that the team have competed at the new Eurospeedway,
at Lausitzring, in former East Germany. In 2001, in what can only be described
as atrocious wet weather, the Team could only manage 16th place, struggling
with visibility and gearbox problems. The event was the Team's second
race back after the Valencia accident and was the first time the circuit
had been used for motorcycle racing.
Lausitzring Eurospeedway is located between
Berlin and the Polish border, near to famous World War II landmarks such
as Colditz and Dresden. This provides an opportunity for the Team to relax
for a couple of days prior to the meeting, by visiting these sites of
interest. The journey to Lausitzring will take some 30 hrs driving across
Germany and will
The Eurospeedway circuit was primarily constructed to host a European
round of the Indy Car Champ Kart series and features an inclined embankment,
for the start and finish straight, as-well as a tricky infield section.
The circuit is some 4.5km in length and is anti-clockwise, with the majority
of corners being left-handers.
The Team are hoping to totally alter their
starting technique at Lausitzring, after the last three events has seen
them reverse a good qualification position by the first corner. Chris
explains, " We have made some awful starts this year, which has made
it hard work for both Pete and myself to battle back through the field."
" I have got to radically alter my starting technique and have made
a few adjustments on the bike to help us start better and hopefully maintain
track position."
The Team are hoping for good weather at Lausitzring
and are looking to continue gaining points and climbing the Championship
table, from their current 13th position.
The boys are also actively continuing the
search for sponsors as Pete explains, " We are near the mid-point
of the season, and still require funds to be sure that we can complete
the full Championship. We have been fortunate to secure additional help
from Trustland Construction, RDB Cables and The Village Hotel Bromborough,
but are always looking for new partners."
With the next UK round at Brands Hatch coming
up on 29 July, the Team are keen to offer a facility for corporate hospitality
to any potential sponsors. This includes a three day paddock pass, food,
drinks and entertainment, courtesy of Team Founds Racing. Anyone interested
in this exciting package can contact the Team and find out more information,
and follow the Team's progress, on the website @ www.teamfoundsracing.com.
The Team would also like to take the opportunity to thank all existing
supporters and partners, for a great season so far.
Best Wishes
